KPMG PROFESSOR IN ACCOUNTING
Reza Barkhi, professor of accounting and information systems, has published more than 50 papers in peer-reviewed journals and book chapters. He focuses his research on decision support and organizational integration systems, information technology audit and control, social network analytics, the economics of information systems, and cybersecurity. Barkhi served as department head for five years before stepping down to return to full-time teaching and research. He currently serves as a senior editor of Decision Support Systems and an associate editor of Information Technology Management.

JOHN E. PRESTON JR. PROFESSORSHIP
Greg Jenkins, professor of accounting and information systems, conducts research that focuses on various aspects of auditing, including auditor independence, use of forensics by audit teams, and the impact of fatigue on audit effectiveness. He has been a member of the Virginia Tech community since 2005, and has published 27 papers in peer-reviewed journals. One of his publications won the American Accounting Association’s (AAA) Deloitte Wildman Medal Award and was published in The Accounting Review.

DISTINGUISHED ALUMNUS
Chris Shean is the chief financial officer for both Liberty Media and Liberty Interactive. He also serves on the board of directors of FTD and Expedia. Upon graduation in 1987, Shean began his career with KPMG in Norfolk. He became a partner in the assurance practice before joining Liberty Media in 2000. Shean regularly returns to campus to share his knowledge and experience with students. Over the years he has worked to strengthen the college’s relationships with alumni by hosting events and connecting college officials with prominent alumni.

R.B. PAMPLIN PROFESSOR OF BUSINESS INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY
Weiguo “Patrick” Fan, professor of accounting and information systems, has established himself as a leader in the application of text analytics methods to a variety of relevant domains, including an assortment of effects of social media adoption. He has published more than 65 papers in scholarly journals and more than 100 papers in conference proceedings. He has served as the associate director of the Digital Library Research Lab since 2006 and was the co-director for the Center for Business Intelligence and Analytics from 2013 to 2015.
