Chris Shean, chief financial officer for Liberty Media and Liberty Interactive, received the 2016 Distinguished Alumnus Award of the Pamplin College of Business at the college’s commencement ceremony on Friday, May 13, at 3:30 p.m. at Cassell Coliseum.

Shean received a bachelor’s degree in accounting in 1987. At Liberty Media and Liberty Interactive, he oversees accounting and treasury functions for a wide range of media and entertainment holdings, including Sirius XM Radio, QVC, and the Atlanta Braves Baseball Club. He also serves on the board of directors of FTD and Expedia.

Upon graduation, Shean began his career with KPMG in Norfolk. He became a partner in the assurance practice before joining Liberty Media in 2000.

Shean, who lives in Denver, Colorado, returns to campus regularly to share his knowledge and experience with students as a guest lecturer and serve on the Department of Accounting and Information Systems advisory board and on the Pamplin Advisory Council. He has worked to strengthen the college’s relationships with alumni by hosting events and connecting college officials with prominent alumni.
