Madison Blevins  2018 Outstanding College Service Award

The Pamplin College of Business has announced the recipients of the 2019 undergraduate student awards. The winners are chosen by members of the Undergraduate Awards Committee, which consists of one representative from each of Pamplin’s seven departments. This year’s honorees are seniors Caroline Rector, Jack Holland, and Julisa Perdomo Santos.

The Pamplin Outstanding Senior Award goes to a student who exhibits leadership skills, is dedicated to extra-curricular activities and community service, achieves extraordinary grades, and is a well-rounded, accomplished individual. The 2019 recipient is Caroline Rector, a finance and real estate double-major from Nokesville, Virginia. Rector serves on the Student Hokie Club Leadership Council, acts as co-head of recruiting for Student-managed Endowment for Educational Development (SEED), is a Real Estate Department peer mentor, and is a tutor for student-athletes. She is a member of the Alpha Phi sorority and has studied abroad in Lugano, Switzerland, all while maintaining a 3.98 GPA. After graduation Rector will work as an investment banker in New York City with Credit Suisse, with whom she served as an intern in 2018. As the Outstanding Senior Award winner, Rector will be invited to speak at May commencement.

Jack Holland, the recipient of the H. H. Mitchell Outstanding Leadership Award, exhibits leadership and service within the university and the broader community. As the Outstanding Leadership Award winner, the finance and management double-major from Vienna, Virginia is invited to speak at the Graduates with Distinction Reception. Holland serves as Regimental Commander of the Virginia Tech Corps of Cadets, the highest student rank in the Corps, having previously served as Command Sergeant Major and Platoon Sergeant. He is an officer in the Virginia Tech Class of 2019 (Cadet Member-at-Large), a summer orientation leader, and a member of numerous organizations, including the Hokie Ambassadors, the Student Alumni Associates, and the Citizen-Leader program within the Corps of Cadets. Holland is also a member of the honor societies Phi Kappa Phi, Omicron Delta Kappa, and Beta Gamma Sigma. After graduation Holland will work as a consultant for RSM in Northern Virginia, where he interned in 2018.

Julisa Perdomo Santos is the recipient of the College Service Award, which goes to a student who has a minimum GPA of 3.4 and devotes his or her time to community service. Santos is an accounting and business information technology double-major from Falls Church, Virginia. She is a member of the Pamplin Ambassadors, the Pamplin Peer Advisors, Zeta Tau Alpha, the New Horizon Scholarship Program, and serves as a KPMG Campus Ambassador.

The award winners will be honored at the Students of Distinction Reception, scheduled to take place on April 24, 2019.
