Connecting to a Virtual Machine
In response to the increased requestes to work for home, we have setup a Remote Desktop for you to work form any computer (VT-issued or Personal).
Outlook, shared drives, google file stream, etc are all ready to be used without being installed on your local comptuer.
Preparations
- Request Access through the Pamplin IT Help Desk
You will receive confirmation once access has been granted.
All department and dean's office administrative support have already been given access.

Setup
- Open Remote Desktop Connection
Computer: remote.pamplin.vt.edu:2020
User Name: [pid]@vt.edu
- Hit Connect
- Download the Microsoft Remote Desktop 10 App from the AppStore
- Hit "Add Desktop"
PC Name: remote.pamplin.vt.edu:2020
User account: {Your option, you can add [pid]@vt.edu}
General Tab
Friendly name: Pamplin VCL
Group: Saved Desktops
Gateway: No gateway
- Hit Add
- Start Remote Session
