Eloise Coupey, associate professor of marketing in the Pamplin College of Business at Virginia Tech, has been conferred the title of associate professor emerita by the Virginia Tech Board of Visitors.

The emerita title may be conferred on retired professors, associate professors, and administrative officers who are specially recommended to the board by Virginia Tech President Tim Sands in recognition of exemplary service to the university. Nominated individuals who are approved by the board receive a copy of the resolution and a certificate of appreciation.

A member of the Virginia Tech community since 1994, Coupey has had research collaborations with the National Science Foundation, Department of Transportation, Procter & Gamble, and the Air Force Research Laboratory. She authored or co-authored more than 40 peer-reviewed journal articles, book chapters, and reviews.

Coupey held leadership positions in several professional organizations, including serving on the editorial board of Psychology and Marketing and as an ad hoc reviewer for the Journal of Marketing Research, Journal of Consumer Psychology, Journal of Consumer Research, Psychology and Marketing, International Journal of Research in Marketing, and the National Science Foundation.

In the classroom, Coupey taught both undergraduate and graduate courses. She served on several master’s degree and Ph.D. committees. An engaged faculty advisor in the Department of Marketing and the Executive Business Research Program, Coupey also supported students completing capstone projects for the Center for Business Intelligence and Analytics, introduced students to collaborative opportunities with IBM and Foundry26, and mentored many student-led business startups.

Coupey received many honors and awards, including Virginia Tech’s XCaliber Award, William E. Wine Award, Holtzman Award for Outstanding Educator of the Year, the Business Teaching Excellence Award, Faculty of the Semester Award, and Distinguished Faculty Award.

She received her bachelor’s degree from Harvard University and a Ph.D. from Duke University.
