Andrew Acito named John and Angela Emery Faculty Fellow

Andrew Acito, assistant professor of accounting and information systems in the Pamplin College of Business at Virginia Tech, has been reappointed as the John and Angela Emery Faculty Fellow by the Virginia Tech Board of Visitors.

In 2007, John and Angela Emery, both 1986 Pamplin graduates, created the faculty fellowship to allow the Department of Accounting and Information Systems the flexibility to recruit, hire, and retain the best faculty. The fellowship is used to reward teaching and scholarly excellence by recipients holding the rank of assistant or associate professor.

Recipients hold the title of John and Angela Emery Faculty Fellow for a three-year period.

A member of the Virginia Tech faculty since 2019, Acito’s scholarship focuses on the effects of materiality on accounting errors and audit decisions and subsequently on auditor-client relations. He has had three articles published in the field’s most prestigious journal, serves on the editorial board of The International Journal of Accounting, and as an ad hoc reviewer for many of the top research journals in accounting.

In the classroom, Acito teaches financial statement analysis in the Master of Accounting and Information Systems program and is an active participant on the accounting curriculum and diversity committees.

Acito received his bachelor’s degree from Indiana University and a Ph.D. from the University of Iowa.
