Transformational Co-Curricular Experiences

Experiences for All

Through our Pamplin+ curriculum, every student completes two meaningful, structured co-curricular experiences, each requiring 100+ hours of supervised engagement, that build confidence, capability, and career readiness. Supported by faculty, advisors, and real-world professionals, these experiences allow students to explore potential career paths, reflect on growth, and graduate with more than knowledge, with experience that matters.

Not Extra. Expected.

At many business schools, co-curricular experiences are encouraged but left up to chance. Students are expected to find opportunities on their own, balance competing priorities, and hope those experiences translate into professional growth.

Pamplin takes a different approach.

Co-curricular experiences are a required part of the Pamplin+ curriculum, ensuring every student has access to meaningful opportunities supported by advising, reflection, and academic recognition. This structure helps students focus on learning, growth, and application—not on figuring out where to start or whether an experience will “count.”

Because students complete more than one Pamplin+ experience, they have the flexibility to learn from early experiences, refine their interests, and make informed adjustments along the way. Each experience builds on classroom learning, giving students repeated opportunities to apply concepts, test ideas, and deepen understanding in real-world settings.

By embedding co-curricular experiences into the curriculum, Pamplin+ ensures students consistently develop the builds foundational career readiness skills employers value most: communication, collaboration, leadership, and the ability to apply knowledge in real-world contexts.

Designed for Every Student

Pamplin+ ensures access to professional experiences regardless of background, prior knowledge, or personal networks. With guidance and support built into the curriculum, every student has the opportunity to grow, reflect, and develop with purpose.

This intentional design does more than ensure participation. It transforms experience into learning through reflection and documentation—creating a clear record of professional growth over time.

What Is a PRO-Folio?

PRO stands for Pamplin Resources & Opportunities.

A PRO-folio is a way for students to capture and reflect on their co-curricular experiences at Pamplin. It highlights not just what students did, but what they learned and how they grew along the way. Each approved experience includes reflection and documentation, helping students connect classroom learning with real-world application.

Over time, the PRO-folio becomes a story of professional growth, showing how skills, leadership, and perspective develop throughout a student’s Pamplin journey.

Students are not expected to navigate this process alone. Faculty and advisors help students think through their experiences, reflect on what they are learning, and connect those experiences to future goals. Along the way, students have access to a wide range of Pamplin resources and opportunities, making it easier to find experiences that align with individual interests and aspirations.

While every PRO-folio is personal, the Pamplin+ curriculum provides a clear and supportive framework. All students complete two approved experiences, offering structure while still leaving room to explore what matters most to them.

Two Experiences. One Standard.

As part of the Pamplin+ curriculum, every student completes two approved co-curricular experiences. This shared standard ensures consistency across majors while allowing students to pursue opportunities that align with their interests and goals.

One experience must be a professional internship, providing hands-on exposure to real business environments. The second experience is selected from a range of approved options, offering flexibility while maintaining academic rigor.

Pamplin+ experiences are completed over the course of a student’s academic journey, not all at once. Advising and planning support help students identify opportunities that fit their timeline, academic goals, and interests.

Within this shared structure, students choose experiences that reflect who they are and who they want to become, shaping a Pamplin+ journey that is both personal and purposeful.

Many Paths. Real Impact.

Pamplin+ gives students a sandbox for real-world discovery, offering opportunities to explore career fields, test interests, and refine direction before graduation. Pamplin recognizes that students grow in different ways, so approved experiences span professional, academic, global, and leadership opportunities, each designed to support intentional learning and development.

At the core, every Pamplin+ experience includes at least 100 hours of supervised engagement and is designed to transform what you’re learning in the classroom into real-world application. While individual paths may look different, all Pamplin+ opportunities share a common standard of meaningful engagement, guided reflection, and documented growth.

Within this shared framework, students choose experiences that feel personal and purposeful, helping them gain clarity, confidence, and momentum as they move toward what comes next.

All Pamplin+ experiences meet established criteria and are supported through advising and reflection, ensuring consistency, quality, and meaningful outcomes.
