What is a scholarship?

Scholarships are a type of gift aid that do not require repayment.

How can I apply for Pamplin College of Business Scholarships?

Students are automatically considered for certain university and college-level scholarships when they apply to Virginia Tech, while others require a separate application. For maximum scholarship consideration for Pamplin College of Business scholarships, submit the FAFSA and General Scholarship Application by the January 22 priority deadline, and submit any separate applications for all the ‘Pamplin College of Business Apply-To Scholarships’ that you qualify for between January 1 and March 1. Online applications can be found on Scholarship Central.

The application isn’t open yet for apply-to scholarships. What should I do to be ready to apply for a Pamplin Scholarship?

  • Complete the FAFSA and General Scholarship Application
  • Update your information – avoid becoming ineligible for scholarships by updating your record! Check all contact information, anticipated graduation date, and major(s)/minor(s) etc. For scholarships that have specific restrictions in the criteria, they will be verified against the student record.
  • Update your resume.

Is there a minimum GPA for your scholarships?

Some scholarships mention specific GPA requirements. For those that do not, recipients generally have an overall GPA of 3.4 or higher, but that can vary depending upon the applicant pool.

If I already have a FAFSA on file, do I need to submit another one each year?

Yes, you need to submit the FAFSA every year you want to be considered for financial aid.

Even if your financial situation has not changed, the FAFSA must be renewed annually because eligibility is based on each academic year's data.

You are not required to submit the FAFSA to be considered for non-need based scholarships.

I am a sophomore now, but will be a junior by the end of the spring semester. How do I determine my class level when considering scholarship qualifications?

To properly award scholarships, a student’s class level is not determined by credits, but by an estimated expected date of completion. When considering your eligibility related to class level, use the following guide:

If you plan to graduate in (for 2026-2027 scholarships):

December 2026, May 2027, or Summer 2027 = “rising senior”

December 2027, May 2028, or Summer 2028 = “rising junior”

December 2028, May 2029, or Summer 2029 =“rising sophomore”

I’m interested in other scholarships outside of the Pamplin College of Business. Where do I go?
