Cody Smith serves as the Assistant Director for Employer Partnerships in the Pamplin College of Business at Virginia Tech, building and strengthening strategic relationships with employers to create meaningful opportunities for students. In this role, he focuses on enhancing employer branding on campus, optimizing recruiting strategies, and developing partnerships that connect students with career-ready experiences.

Prior to this role, Cody served as Assistant Director for Employer Engagement and Recruitment Services in Career and Professional Development, where he led initiatives to support employer partnerships, student recruitment, and experiential learning programs across the university. His background also includes hiring and onboarding management for student employees in Dining Services and program coordination for professional development and experiential programs, providing him with a broad perspective on workforce development and student engagement.

Cody holds a Master’s in Human Resource Development (MHRD) from the University of Arkansas and dual Bachelor’s degrees in Sociology and Criminology from Virginia Tech. He is an active member of the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM), the Association for Talent Development (ATD), and the National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE), among other professional organizations, and is dedicated to preparing students and employers for success in an evolving workforce.
