Students of Distinction Awards
Each year, the Pamplin College of Business recognizes a select group of graduating seniors at the Students of Distinction Ceremony. This event recognizes undergraduate seniors for outstanding academic achievement, exceptional leadership, and impactful contributions to the Pamplin community.
- Outstanding Senior Award: Awarded to one student who exhibits leadership skills, is dedicated to extra-curricular activities and community service, achieves extraordinary grades, and is a well-rounded, accomplished individual.
- H.H. Mitchell Leadership Award: Awarded to up to three students who exhibit leadership and service within the university and the broader community.
- College Service Award: Awarded to up to two students who have a minimum GPA of 3.4 and have a focus on service in Pamplin programs.
- Pamplin Principles of Community Award: Awarded to a student who exemplifies the Principles of Community and has demonstrated an active commitment to the individual and institutional commitment of Ut Prosim (That I May Serve) in the spirit of inclusive communities, education, and excellence.
- Outstanding Global Mentor Award: Awarded to the top two outstanding senior Global Mentors for their service to the Global Mentor Program, which supports international students as they adjust to academic and social life in the U.S.
- Outstanding Engage TA Award: Awarded to the top outstanding undergraduate senior TAs, based on nominations from faculty, in recognition of service to support student learning in the classroom.
- Outstanding Pamplin Ambassador Award: Awarded to the top two outstanding senior Pamplin Ambassadors, in recognition of their service to recruiting and outreach programs for incoming freshman and transfer students.
Students are also recognized at the departmental level with awards such as the outstanding senior, outstanding leader, and outstanding service awards. Students who have a GPA of 4.0 are recognized for their academic excellence as First Honors Graduate.
Outstanding Senior Award: Sara Prisinzano
Sara Prisinanzo has been awarded the 2026 Pamplin Outstanding Senior Award for her involvement as a Pamplin Engage Undergraduate Teaching Assistant, Chief Operating Officer of Members for the Sigma Omega Upsilon International Business Fraternity, and Intramural Sports Supervisor with Virginia Tech Recreational Sports. You have also established a record of exemplary service supporting the Big Event, Relay for Life, Special Olympics, and the Hokie Half.
H.H. Mitchell Leadership Award:
Carmella Wheeler
Carmella Wheeler has been awarded the 2026 H.H. Mitchell Leadership Award for leadership and involvement in Service Without Borders and MadziTech while maintaining strong academic progress.
Samantha Sciortino
Samantha Sciortino has been awarded the 2026 H.H. Mitchell Leadership Award for leadership and involvement in the Corps of Cadets, Management Advisory Board of Students, and Virginia Tech Women’s Club Rowing Team while maintaining strong academic progress.

Julia Beal Diaz has been awarded the 2026 College Service Award for leadership roles in the Financial Planning Association, Finance Department Student Advisory Council, Finance Club, Delta Sigma Pi, and Good Grief, as well as service as a Pamplin Engage Undergraduate Teaching Assistant.

Emily Bedford has been awarded the 2026 College Service Award for leadership roles in the Junior Marketing Advisory Board, Delta Sigma Pi, and Good Grief, as well as service as a Pamplin Engage Undergraduate Teaching Assistant.
