The Pamplin Career Services team recently hosted the fall 2023 Business Horizons Career Fair at the Commonwealth Ballroom in Squires Student Center. The career fair continues to be one of Pamplin’s largest events, so much so that, for the first time in the event’s 40-plus year history, the event was expanded to take place over two days.
“The ‘Real’ Path to C-Suite Opportunities,” a four-part workshop held during the 2020-21 academic year, was created to help remove obstacles – such as the lack of corporate connections – facing minority students interested in careers in real estate. The workshops were the product of a collaboration between the Program in Real Estate, KCDG Inc., and real estate investment trust JBG Smith.
Alex Byrum's quest for independence led him to conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan, then back home to Virginia’s Tidewater region, and, ultimately, to Blacksburg. In January 2021, it will lead Byrum home once again, this time to Smithfield Foods in Norfolk, where he will begin work in Smithfield’s Career Foundation Program.
Recently, the Program in Real Estate held its REAL Career Event, a bi-annual career fair that allows students to network with real estate industry professionals to find summer internships and career opportunities for graduates. For this year’s event, the Program in Real Estate partnered with CoStar, one of the largest commercial real estate information and analytics providers in the U.S.
The Sales Education Foundation (SEF) has named the Marketing Department’s Professional Sales Program to its list of “Top Universities for Professional Sales Education.” The ranking appears in the 14th edition of the SEF Annual magazine, utilizing data collected from university sales education programs in the United States and throughout the world.
Students dressed in suits, clutching folders of resumes, with backpacks slung over their shoulders and name tags on their chests are a common sight around campus. The reason: They are attending the multitude of career fairs on campus.
