    The Hospitality and Tourism Management (HTM) Department in Virginia Tech’s Pamplin College of Business recently earned top national and international recognition. HTM was ranked as the #2 program in the United States and the #6 program in the world by QS World University Rankings.

    In Memoriam: Vic Bonomo, associate professor of finance , redirect

    Vittorio (“Vic”) Bonomo, associate professor of finance, 80, died on April 20 in Blacksburg. Bonomo, a native of New Brighton, Pennsylvania, joined Virginia Tech in 1968, where he taught for 48 years. He received his bachelor’s degree in economics from Duquesne University in 1962 and his Ph.D. in economics from Brown University in 1969.

    VTAMA Wins Fourth Place In Conference Competition , article

    Recently, the Virginia Tech American Marketing Association proudly represented the Pamplin College of Business at the International Collegiate AMA Conference in New Orleans. The conference is a sales and marketing summit where more than 200 colleges around the world compete in events and case competitions. Industry leaders give presentations and there are career networking opportunities. With support from Pamplin’s marketing department, the Virginia Tech chapter of the AMA (VTAMA) was able to send eight student representatives.

    Women in Business: How do you get “a seat at the table”? , article

    How do you get “a seat at the table”? This was the question posed by keynote speaker, Cydni Tetros at the Northern Virginia Women in Business (WIB) reception held on Thursday, March 30th. Over 100 women – including alumni, featured guests, and roughly 20 students – gathered in Reston, Virginia to network and connect with fellow Hokies. Derick Maggard, executive director of Pamplin’s Apex Systems Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship connected WIB to Tetros, and sponsored her presentation.

    Shin Fujiyama , article

    Shin Fujiyama, founder of Students Helping Honduras, spoke in Squires’ Haymarket Theatre on social entrepreneurism on Tuesday, February 16 at 7pm. Fujiyama talks about founding Students Helping Honduras while in college. He has also started a bilingual school and children’s homes in Honduras. His social entrepreneurship efforts are having a profound impact on the lives of students in both the U.S. and Honduras.
