    Professor Cliff Ragsdale receives Graduate School's outstanding mentor award , redirect

    Cliff Ragsdale, the Bank of America professor of business information technology, has received the Graduate School’s 2018 Faculty Outstanding Mentor Award for the Pamplin College of Business. Sponsored by the Graduate School, the annual award recognizes excellence in mentoring graduate students. Students nominate recipients, and one professor from each college receives an award.

    Virginia Tech students travel to Israel for Capstone Project , article

    As the fourth industrial revolution is upon us, Virginia Tech students undertook a capstone project that challenged them to leverage a number of technologies to accelerate progress in many different IT domains. Included were Cloud, Al, ML, robotics and loT. The graduate students worked with Amdocs to create a value-based model for automation in IT to reduce the "run-the-business" operations and increase Amdocs growth. Amdocs is a leading software and services provider to the world's most successful communications and media companies. The team trip was guided by Linda Oldham, Executive Director, Center Business Intelligence & Analytics in the Pamplin College of Business. Several Amdocs executives sponsored the project and spent 2 days supervising its further development. They included Tomer Simon, IT Futurist, Director of Innovation & Academic Collaboration, Rupesh Guikwad, Global Technology Manager, Hanoch Sapoznikov, Lead of worldwide Academic Relations, and Alex Polyak, Global Technology Manager.

    Apex Center for Entrepreneurs announces preliminary winner of Global Challenge , redirect

    The preliminary round of the 2018 Virginia Tech Global Entrepreneur Challenge has been won by Team ­­­­­­­FeetBack, from Technical University of Darmstadt, Germany. As part of its prize, the team will receive up to $5,000 in travel expenses to Washington, D.C., and Blacksburg, Virginia, to participate in the Global Entrepreneur Challenge on Aug. 16-25.
