    13 universities, 10 days, 1 Global Challenge , redirect

    Students and faculty from 12 countries will gather at Virginia Tech to compete, collaborate, and network at the annual Global Entrepreneur Challenge, hosted by the Apex Center for Entrepreneurs, on August 16-25. The challenge allows student teams to pitch their business ideas to compete for a $30,000 grand prize. “It’s a great opportunity for them to demonstrate their energy and ingenuity through business ideas that can contribute to the global economy,” said Derick Maggard, executive director of the Apex Center for Entrepreneurs.

    Marriott Foundation grants $2.1 million to Virginia Tech Global Business and Analytics project , redirect

    Fundraising for the construction of Virginia Tech’s proposed Global Business and Analytics Complex has taken another big step forward, with a $2.1 million grant from The J. Willard and Alice S. Marriott Foundation. The four-building complex is expected to include two academic buildings and two residential buildings for living-learning communities — and to serve as the new home for the Pamplin College of Business.

    Young entrepreneurs from around the world gathered to compete and display their product concepts and business ideas to judges, investors, mentors, and other entrepreneurs during the TiE Young Entrepreneurs Global Summit at the Virginia Tech Research Center — Arlington. TiE Global is a nonprofit devoted to assisting entrepreneurs through education, mentorship, networking, funding, and incubation. TiE Young Entrepreneurs is a “program designed for high school students to learn how to build a business from the ground up,” said program director Robin Dvorak, of TiE DC.
