PUMP Program Overview

The Pamplin Undergraduate Mentoring Program (PUMP) is focused on providing support to incoming Business, Undecided (BUS) students with their transition into and through college by connecting them with resources to help them develop academically, personally, and professionally in the classroom and in their careers.

PUMP strives to provide an opportunity for Pamplin students to develop themselves, build a community within the Pamplin College of Business and be connected to ensure holistic success throughout their college and post-graduate careers. Students will be given the opportunity to connect with peers, peer mentors, Pamplin faculty and staff, and Pamplin alumni who are looking to engage with and mentor current Pamplin student mentors!

For more information, contact Emily McCorkle (eamccorkle@vt.edu).

PUMP Peer Mentors

The PUMP Peer Mentor position offers exceptional students the opportunity to be both leaders on campus and mentors to first-year Pamplin students. Mentors are committed to helping their PUMP mentees adjust to life at Virginia Tech and transition to Pamplin academically and socially.

For more information or to register as a PUMP Peer Mentor, contact Emily McCorkle (eamccorkle@vt.edu).

PUMP Alumni Mentors

Pamplin Alumni have the unique opportunity to serve as mentors to our PUMP Peer Mentors throughout the academic year. This is an ideal time for our notable alumni to connect with this group since they are in the process of looking and preparing for internships and full-time jobs. These mentors will be asked to engage with our students at least once a semester. These mentors will make a significant impact in helping prepare our students for the business industry.
