Douglas G. Stewart ‘83

Doug Stewart is currently a Partner and Managing Director with Cary Street Partners.  Mr. Stewart merged his firm Stewart Wealth Management Group with Cary Street Partners in 2007. Prior to that Doug served 10 years as Branch Manager of the Fredericksburg retail office of Wheat First Securities.  Beginning in 1988, Doug was consistently ranked in the top 1% of all advisors within that firm. He was also recognized as one of the firm’s top Branch Managers in 1996.  In 1999, Doug was recognized by Registered Representative magazine as one of the top 10 brokers in the country.

In 2005, Virginia Business Magazine recognized Doug’s inclusion in R. J. Shook’s book, The Winner’s Circle as one of the top 5 Financial Advisors in Virginia. He received recognition from The Winner’s Circle again in 2006, 2010 and 2011.

Serving his clients and community is paramount to Doug.  (Ut Prosim)  He is past Chairman of the board of Fredericksburg Academy, George Washington’s Fredericksburg Foundation, and the Mary Washington Hospital Foundation. Additionally, he is a founding member of the Community Foundation of the Rappahannock River Region, Founder’s Circle APEX CIE and a board member of the Virginia Tech Athletic Foundation. Over the course of his career, Doug has also served as a Trustee of St. George’s Episcopal Church and a Director of Virginia Heartland Bank.  He is currently on the board of UVA Healthcare Foundation and Northern Neck Insurance.  Doug is also a recipient of the Jim Wheat Community Service Award.

Doug was born and raised in Blacksburg, Virginia. He is a member of the 1983 graduating class of Virginia Tech where he received a B.S. in Business and is an ardent supporter of The Hokies. Always in search of personal and professional challenges, Doug climbed to the summit of Mt. Kilimanjaro during the summer of 2010. He resides in downtown Fredericksburg with his three children.
