Julia Morrison

Vice President of Data & Privacy Engineering in Global Technology; Marriott International, Inc.

Julia Morrison is currently leading Data & Privacy Engineering in Global Technology at Marriott International on the CTO's team. Julia has been with Marriott for over 19 years in progressively expanding roles in Data Engineering, Product Management, Privacy, Analytics, Data Science, Revenue Management, all on Technology side.

In recent years, Julia lead prototyping, development, and maintenance of the Modem Data Platform (MDP), Tokenization Platform, Event Hub and real-time Customer 360 systems (UGI/CIAM). Under her direction, MDP grew from purposely built warehouses, to the single Data Platform with one stop shop for Business Analysts, Data

Scientists, supporting many marketing, computational, financial, and operational business processes.

As privacy regulations evolved around the globe, Julia established the GT Privacy Product & Engineering practice, responsible for supporting Global Privacy & Compliance Office and making sure our systems, data handling and retention processes are compliant with the regulations, and all relevant Privacy requirements are pulled through our systems.

Julia began her career at Marriott in Revenue Management Systems, where she developed pricing, forecasting, and optimization models and later led the team of Data Scientists who were responsible for building all the Machine Leaming models for revenue and inventory optimization. She built One Yield v2, Revenue Pricing Optimizer, award winning Total Yield/GPO, and many others, that delivered significant profit lift to the properties.

Prior to joining Marriott, Julia was a consultant with McKinsey & Company, specializing in Pricing, Analytics, Retail, and Consumer Packaged Goods.

Julia holds PhD in Operations & Financial Engineering from Princeton University, and BS in Applied Physics & Mathematics from the Moscow Institute of Technology

Originally from Ukraine, Julia lives in Northern Virginia with her husband and their three teen/tween kids. All three kids play ice hockey, so Julia is very active in the local youth hockey community, manages a couple of travel teams each season, and specifically helps with travel panning for their teams and ensures the teams stay in best hotels.
