Change Major or Minor
Ready to explore a new academic path? Whether you're declaring a Pamplin major or adding a minor, this site will guide you through the requirements, application process, and important deadlines.
Change of Major Application Periods
Virginia Tech has three standard change of major application periods during the year when students can declare, change, or add a major.
Newly admitted students cannot change or declare their major until they've received final grades for their first semester at Virginia Tech. Final grades are typically available before the end of each application period.
Change of Major Application Links
Current Pamplin students can change or add a major option/concentration in an already declared major or drop a secondary major at any time.
If you are a F-1 or J-1 international student, please meet with a representative at the Cranwell International Center to receive a new immigration document marked with your new program or adjusted field of study. All F-1 or J-1 international students are required to obtain a new immigration document within 10 days of change.
Apply for a Pamplin Minor
Applications to add a Pamplin minor can be submitted at any time.
