Virginia Tech Alumnus Brian Cook (Management and Finance ’79, MBA ’81; DePaul College of Law J.D. ’91) is the recently retired executive vice president and chief administrative officer of USG Corporation, a manufacturer of high-performance building materials. Cook was responsible for the Human Resources, Corporate Communications, Corporate Services, and Environmental, Health & Safety functions. He served on the board of the USG Boral Building Products Asian joint venture and as President of the USG Foundation. Cook is an active member of the Pamplin Advisory Council and is an adjunct instructor in the MBA program at Loyola University of Chicago.
Cook currently serves on the board and the finance/audit committees for the both the National Safety Council and Skills for Chicagoland’s Future. He is a former board member and Chairman Emeritus of the American Red Cross of Greater Chicago. Cook has a passion for mentoring students andprofessionals on personal development and career planning.
