Robin Russell

Roberta S. (Robin) Russell is Professor and Department Chair of Business Information Technology (BIT) in the Pamplin College of Business at Virginia Tech. She pursues research in decision sciences, supply chain management, healthcare operations and related topics in cybersecurity. Her work has been published in Journal of Operations Management, Decision Sciences, International Journal of Production Research, IIE Transactions, IEEE Transactions, Annals of Operations Research and others. She is also co-author of the text Operations and Supply Chain Management in its 10th edition with Wiley. She has consulted with numerous corporations, including DuPont, GE, IBM, AT&T, Xaloy and Courtaulds, and is past President of the APICS Foundation. Dr. Russell has led the BIT department to a top 25 research ranking in Information Systems, and a #1 ranking for the popularity of its Management Science and Quantitative Methods program. The department recently launched a BIT option in Cybersecurity Management and Analytics for undergraduates at both its Blacksburg and Northern Virginia campuses. Having received her BS and PhD degrees from Virginia Tech, Dr. Russell enjoys working with fellow Hokies whether current students or prospective students, alums or future alums.
