Giving Day 2023

Kristin Lamoureux, collegiate associate professor with the Howard Feiertag Department of Hospitality and Tourism Management in the Pamplin College of Business and director of the MSBA-HTM graduate program, recently sat down with Jamie Fonseca, a junior majoring in Business Information Technology, and discussed her research on Indigenous communities at the Ati: Wa:oki Indigenous Community Center.

The Pamplin College of Business Office for Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging (DEIB) held its first-ever Global Etiquette Dinner on October 18, 2023, at the Inn at Virginia Tech. In partnership with Pamplin’s International Programs, the event brought together students, faculty, staff, global mentors, and corporate partners from all backgrounds to learn more about business etiquette and how it varies throughout the world.

The third full week in October is observed as National Women in Business Week. It is a time to celebrate, recognize, and honor the achievements and contributions of women throughout history. This celebratory week is not one to go unnoticed, for the Pamplin College of Business recently welcomed Saonee Sarker as the Richard E. Sorensen Dean in the Pamplin College of Business. Sarker succeeded Roberta “Robin” Russell, who had served as interim dean from July 2022 to August 2023.

The Pamplin College of Business Office for Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging (DEIB) has published the second edition of its Impact Report, highlighting Pamplin’s DEIB efforts and outcomes in the 2022–2023 academic year. The annual report showcases progress toward the college’s commitment to fostering an inclusive academic and workplace environment, initiatives to inspire and prepare stakeholders to make positive societal impact, and highlighting advancements in the DEIB goals, metrics, and levels outlined in Pamplin’s 2019–2024 Strategic and Implementation Plan.
