Felipe Cabezon

Asking why they exist and how they can be mitigated, Cabezon’s research focuses on the conflict of interest between a company’s management and its stakeholders. His work is centered on the board of directors’ role, the effects of regulations, and the flow of information across firms as primary mechanisms to reduce this problem.

His current projects involve corporate governance, executive compensation, and information disclosure.

In June 2021, Cabezon garnered the Trefftzs Award for Best Student Paper at the Western Finance Association Conference. In 2019, he received both the USC Global Branding Center Fellowship and the USC Ford Fellowship in recognition of his outstanding Ph.D. dissertation.

Cabezon’s professional experience before entering the Ph.D. program includes two years at the Ministry of Economics of Chile, where he designed and executed microeconomic policies to improve the conditions for entrepreneurship and innovation.
