Bernard’s research interests revolve around innovation, sustainability, and environmental management in the hospitality and tourism industry. Her research publications, including in the International Journal of Hospitality Management, have examined such topics as greenwashing in hotels, online restaurant reviews, and the effect of personal values on perceptions of performance.

Her industry experience includes work in food and beverage, sales, front desk operations, guest services management, and housekeeping. She has also taught courses in lodging management, customer service, and sustainable tourism.

At Auburn University, Bernard was among the international students recognized in 2020 for representing the highest academic achievement, leadership, and involvement.
