Bringing Research into the Classroom

Read how a recent graduate of Pamplin’s Executive PH.D program is bringing the real world into the classroom through his diverse consulting experiences.  Mr. Wang highlights how to conduct high-quality and impactful research.  Jeremy Wang has developed a variety of contemporary information systems courses that feature a combination of lectures, case studies, and hands on lab sessions.

Christina is now our Pamplin representative on the Staff Senate Committee. The Staff Senate is one of the ways all salaried staff (University and Classified) and regular wage staff can participate in shared governance at Virginia Tech. Aspire! Awards are coming soon. Our very own student, Faiza Bari has been nominated to receive the Aspire! Award embodying our Aspiration to Embrace Ut Prosim as a Way of Life. Reminder: Staff Performance Evaluations are due soon. The performance management process is a partnership between the supervisor and the employee. As part of this partnership, performance evaluations are necessary and beneficial, providing supervisors an opportunity to give employees feedback on job performance. Zhang

Hailong Zhang, Assistant Collegiate Professor in Business Information Technology. Congratulations on receiving this award for the area of research related to Health and Data Sharing. This is a critical part of the college mission, especially as it relates to improving the human condition, data analytics, and cyber security. The award is for the project entitled "Privacy for Health Data Sharing and is funded by the Commonwealth Cyber Initiative Southwest Virginia Node.

Viswanath Venkatesh and Paul Benjamin Lowry from Pamplin were listed on research.com’s best business and management scientists list.   Congratulations!

The 2nd edition of Research.com ranking of the best scholars in the discipline of Business and Management relies on data consolidated from various data sources, including OpenAlex and CrossRef. The bibliometric data for estimating the citation-based metrics were collected on 12-21-2022. Position in the rankings is based on a researcher’s D-index (Discipline H-index), which includes exclusively papers and citation metrics for an examined discipline.

Mahmood A. Khan, PhD Professor of Hospitality and Tourism Management. Has been invited to participate in the CFR Education Ambassador Program. Information Sessions on IT Procurement Changes. Virginia Tech Procurement will be hosting two information sessions to update employees on recently announced changes to the IT Procurement operating model. Information sessions will cover a range of topics, including a review of the operational changes, FERPA considerations, information security implications and a demonstration of the new purchasing process. Dates are Sept 25th and Oct 4th.
