A Note from Desk of Dean Sarker
Dear Pamplin faculty and staff:
Add the College Town Hall meeting for Friday, October 27, from 9:00 - 10:30 a.m. to your calendars. This will take place at the Inn, with breakfast from 8:30 a.m. – 9:00 a.m. Apologies to those of you who will be teaching at that time. I will provide some opening remarks about our environment and the plans we are making for the fall and spring. The environment and plans keep evolving so I’ll tell you the latest that I know. Most of the meeting will be reserved for questions and comments that you want to raise. We strongly encourage in-person participation, however, Zoom details will be provided.
We would also like to offer the opportunity to submit questions prior to the meeting. Please complete the questionnaire here by Friday, October 20. Your questions will remain anonymous.
We look forward to seeing you then.
Thank you!
Saonee
Announcements
Segal is making their meeting invites now.
As many of you know, a college-wide organizational, operational, and cultural review will be launched to ensure our operating models, organizational structures, services, systems, practices, processes, policies, and culture position us to meet the current and future needs of our students and workforce. Pamplin has partnered with Segal, a nationally recognized higher education consulting firm with extensive experience in leading organizational assessment and transformation initiatives for a broad range of colleges and universities. Their in-depth knowledge of best practice organizational and operational structures and practices will assist us in identifying our greatest opportunities for success. Segal will be utilizing the scheduling tool, Calendly, to schedule the individual interviews. Some of you may also be asked to participate in a focus group, and the dates and times for the focus groups will be pre-selected. If you’ve been asked to participate in a focus group, you will receive a separate email inviting you to join the focus group at a certain date and time. Please be on the lookout for communication regarding this initiative over the next few weeks.

As part of our ongoing work to address this important issue, all Virginia Tech faculty, staff, graduate, and undergraduate students in all Virginia Tech locations are encouraged to complete a child care survey to gauge the current use and needs regarding child care across our university communities. Even if you do not use childcare, please take a moment to complete the survey. Please complete the survey by Friday, Oct. 27, 2023. All responses are anonymous. Visit the Caregiving site for information, resources, and more.
